Project Overview
Ashley’s basement was in need of some serious attention. She came to Home Painters Toronto for help after hiring a contractor to paint the job who was unable to finish. It was a complicated project—it included everything from carpentry work to plumbing and electrical work, and all of it had to be done quickly but within a reasonable price.
It was a challenge which our team accepted, and we completed the project within less than two weeks, as opposed to the two-month timeline with no work done by a previous contractor. From door frames to new baseboards, laminate flooring, potlights, and trim down to a floating vanity full plumbing installation, we became Ashley’s one-stop renovation shop. We also did a ton of drywall and plastering repairs, and to complete the project we gave the space a fresh coat of paint to refresh the look of the basement.

The Challenge
The complexity of the work was another challenge as it required coordination between several trades. We managed this with our own in-house team which was able to handle every aspect of the job. This allowed us to keep everything on schedule and avoided delays.
The Result
We were able to complete the project in 10 days, something that had stalled for months under the previous contractor. Ashley now has a newly renovated basement that is not only stylish but also functional. The basement is now a beautiful and functional area complete with an updated washroom all with an almost brand-new sparkle and shine.

Scope of Work
In order to deliver high-quality results, whilst being efficient, we divided the project into the following steps:
Step 1: Carpentry & Handyman Work
We did all carpentry and handyman work, including:
- New casings (can be referred to as spice) for the door frames and new baseboards were installed in the basement landing area.
- Laminate flooring with underpad.
- In the basement, we had 12 new potlights installed, along with the baseboard and trim.
- Basement bathroom plumbing for the floating vanity, toilet and shower.
Step 2: Drywall & Plastering Repairs
We repaired drywall and plaster in several spots throughout the basement, bringing both the ceilings and walls to a smooth finish. These included taping, sanding and priming before painting.
Step 3: Interior Painting
After preparing the surfaces, we painted the whole basement:
- Walls: For the main walls, we used Benjamin Moore’s Oxford White and Silver Satin for the storage room, which both brightened the space and made it feel more inviting.
- Trim & Doors: The trim and doors got touched up with Oxford White to keep them fresh and clean.
- Ceilings: We also used Oxford White for the ceiling, which opened up the basement nicely.
- Accent Areas: The bathroom and the landing areas were painted meticulously giving a smooth and durable finish
Step 4: Electrical Work
We had our electrician install the potlights and he made sure every light went into the perfect spot. They were added to help with the general lighting in the basement

Timeline & Outcome
This entire project was finished in less than 2 weeks, and Ashley could enjoy her new basement much sooner than she anticipated. The quality of the work, coupled with the speed of execution, left a happy customer who is looking forward to working with Home Painters Toronto again.
